What Is DSG Torque Unlock and How It Works?
Factory DSG software contains multiple torque limiters in the TCU.
These maps restrict the maximum torque sent from the ECU to protect the transmission and to comply with emissions or drivetrain comfort targets.
After ECU tuning, this limit can prevent full performance - the gearbox simply doesn’t allow the increased torque to pass through.
In short: even with a tuned ECU, your engine may never deliver full output unless the TCU torque limiters are calibrated.
